Stagecoach State Park is located 17-miles south of Steamboat Springs, Colorado off of CR-14. The primary attraction of the park is the 820-acre reservoir that is known for its trout fishing. The reservoir, completed in the 1989, was constructed to provide water for Routt County residence and provide flood control along the Yampa River. The 145-ft dam at the eastern end of the reservoir provides 800kW of hydroelectric power.

The 1,641-acre park comprises the entire reservoir and 821-acres of land around the reservoir. Facilities at the park include a marina, boat rental, boat ramps, 8-miles of hiking trails, picnic area, pavilion, and 92 campsites, park office, and restroom facilities.

The park is surrounded by Thorp and Blacktail Mountains to the north and Woodchuck Mountain and Stagecoach Development to the south. The Flattop Mountains can be viewed to the southwest. Close inspection of the surrounding landscape will reveal the volcanic past of the area.

While visiting the park, look for commonly seen animals including black bear, coyote, elk, fox, mule deer, snowshoe hare, osprey, and white pelicans. If your looking for a more remote hiking experience, check out nearby Sarvis and Silver Trails.
